Who This Page Is For
This page is for patients paying for their own testing — either because you do not have health insurance, or because you do not want to use it.
Your samples are collected in our office and sent to Northwell Health Labs. You pay us $90 for the office visit. Northwell bills you separately, at your home, usually within about a month.
You are seen by the doctor, and nothing is ordered until you have agreed to the price.

How Pricing Works
If you are a self-pay patient, there are two ways to pay here, depending on which tests you have.
Paid at our office
- Office visit fee: $90
- Ceftriaxone injection, if you need treatment
The office visit fee covers seeing the doctor and all sample collection: urine, blood draw, throat swab and rectal swab. It is charged once per visit.

Billed to your home by the lab
Lab tests cannot be paid for at our office. We send your samples to Northwell Health Labs, Northwell runs them, and Northwell sends the bill to your home address. The bill usually arrives within about a month of your visit, and you pay Northwell directly.
Because the bill goes to your home, you must bring a valid U.S. government-issued ID, which we scan into the system at your visit. Without it, lab tests cannot be ordered.

Packages cost the same as ordering each test separately, so you can drop anything you don't need.

Chlamydia and gonorrhea
Always tested together. Which site we test depends on the kind of sexual contact you have had — a urine test alone misses throat and rectal infections.

Discharge has several possible causes, and the doctor examines you first. In many cases a single test is enough — bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, or chlamydia and gonorrhea, each priced above. The complete panel is for when the cause is unclear or symptoms keep coming back.

Symptoms, and the test is positive for gonorrhea
You come in with discharge. Your urine test comes back positive for gonorrhea, which requires an injection.

Results, Treatment, Insurance and Privacy
When You Get Results
- Blood tests — 2 business days
- Urine and swab tests — 3 to 5 business days
Lab results are posted to your online patient portal as soon as they come in, at no additional charge.
If a Test Is Positive
The doctor calls the prescription into the pharmacy of your choice and you pick it up there. We prescribe the generic version whenever one is available.
If an injection is required — as it is for gonorrhea — the ceftriaxone shot is $60, given in our office and paid here.

If we accept your plan, use it — STD testing is covered, and the self-pay prices on this page do not apply to you. If we do not accept your plan, you pay us the $90 office visit fee, and your lab tests and medication still go through your insurance: the lab bills your plan directly and you fill your prescription using your insurance. We do not provide receipts for reimbursement.

The lab bill lists the tests performed. If you share an address with family, know that the envelope arrives at your home. If that is a concern, ask about rapid testing, which is paid for in our office and generates no lab bill.
